Published on May 3, 2012, by in Nadi Dosh.

Nadi is one of the important aspect in match making for the purpose of marriage in Vedic Astrology. It indicates health compatibility and out of 36 points in marital match making 8 points are given to Nadi . Nadi has given maximum points and hence regarded as the most important factor by astrologers. The Nadi disagreement between two is called as Nadi Dosha and generally regarded as the strict no for the marriage.

let’s first find out what is a Nadi Dosh and how is it formed? Horoscope of every person shows his Nadi depending upon the placement of Moon in different Constellations or Nakshatras at the time of his birth. Depending upon these placements, following are the three kinds of Nadis.

1) ADI / Adhya / Aadh Nadi : If Moon is placed or say People born in any of these 9 constellations named Ashwini, Ardra, Punarvasu, Uttara Phalguni, Hasta, Jyeshtha, Moola, Shatabhisha or Poorvabhadrapada in natal horoscope, the native is said to have Aadi Nadi.

2) Madhya Nadi : If Moon is placed or say people born in any of these 9 constellations named Bharani, Mrigashira, Pushya, Poorvaphalguni, Chitra, Anuradha, Poorvashada, Dhanishtha or Uttarabhadrapada in natal horoscope, the native is said to have Madhya Nadi.

3) Antya Nadi : People born any of these constellations named Kritika, Rohini, Ashlesha, Magha, Swati, Vishakha, Uttarashada, Shravana or Revati in natal horoscope, the native is said to have Ant Nadi.

If both Male and Female have Nadi which are different from each other, a score of 8 is added to the point chart and if both of them are having same Nadi, a score of 0 is added and Nadi Dosh is said to be formed.

For example if the Male is born in Hasta Nakshatra and the Female is born in Ardra Nakshatra, both of them are having Aadi Nadi which is same and hence Nadi Dosh is said to be formed.

If both Male and Female are having Aadi Nadi, generally said to cause a divorce or separation.

If both Male and Female are having either Madhya or Ant Nadi is said to cause death of either one or both of the partners.

This is why a Male and a Female having same Nadi are advised not to marry each other.

However it is not accurate to reject a proposal for marriage just because the girl & boy have same Nadi. As in the Shastras its mentioned that if Nadis are same then also some other things are to be watched and then the result should be predicted. Below are some points to be checked .

1) The Rashi (Zodiac Sign) of male & female are same but the Nakshatra are different, then no Nadi dosha.

2) The Nakshatra are same and the Rashi (Zodiac Sign) are different, then no Nadi dosha.

3) The Rashis are same and Nakshatras are same but the Charana or Pada of Nakshatra are different then no nadi dosha.

4) The 5th House of Lagan kundli of both girl & boy should be checked as House No- is considered house of Children.

5) The placement of Jupiter in both girl & boy’s horoscope should be checked. Jupiter is considered as Putra karak planet.

These points are to be very carefully watched and then only any decision should be made.
